Terms of Service

Effective 2026-06-27

These terms govern your use of Mandato, a client-intake service for Canadian law and accounting firms. By using Mandato, you agree to these terms. If you are using Mandato on behalf of a firm, you confirm that you are authorized to bind that firm.

The service

Mandato receives, acknowledges, triages, and organizes incoming client inquiries across the channels a firm uses (web form, WhatsApp, and email), and alerts the firm to anything urgent. It is a tool that supports a firm's intake workflow; it does not replace the firm's professional judgment.

No legal or accounting advice; no professional relationship

Mandato does not provide legal or accounting advice and does not create a lawyer-client, accountant-client, or any other professional relationship. It acknowledges and organizes inquiries only. No professional relationship between a firm and a prospective client is created until that firm reviews the file and chooses to act on it.

Automated acknowledgements sent through Mandato are not advice and should not be relied upon as such by anyone who contacts a firm.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Mandato only for lawful purposes and in compliance with the professional and regulatory obligations that apply to your firm. You will not use the service to send unlawful, misleading, or abusive content, to infringe others' rights, or to attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service.

Private beta

Mandato is currently offered as a private beta to Canadian firms. Features may change, and the service may occasionally be unavailable while we improve it. We will give reasonable notice of material changes where we can.

Pricing and cancellation

During the private beta, pricing is agreed with each firm individually, and there is no long-term contract — you can cancel at any time. Any fees are payable as agreed with your firm. If pricing changes, we will give advance notice before it takes effect.

Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. Please review it to understand what we collect, why, where it is stored, and your rights.

Service provided “as is”

Mandato is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including as to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. You remain responsible for reviewing inquiries and exercising your own professional judgment.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Mandato will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any lost profits or lost business, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Where a firm or its clients are located in Quebec, applicable Quebec consumer and privacy law continues to apply.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. The effective date above reflects the latest version, and continued use of Mandato after a change means you accept the updated terms. Questions? Email george@usemandato.com.
